Spring 2012 Trend Preview

I know it may be hard to look past the hum-drum grey winter weather and start visualizing Spring. But the time is now! If you can do a little early planning for the up-coming Spring season, you can get a feel for what looks fit your body style and life and slowly begin to stock up on trend items as they become available.

Spring and Summer 2012 fashion trends are all about color! The biggest trend colors showing up in previews are warm sunset shades of orange and gold. Bright canary yellows and blues in a royal or china shade. Pair these with warm ginger brown, nude taupe and camel. Then throw in some crisp white and you match the shades of the season. For trendy prints and patterns there is a lot of stripes and bold color-blocking paired with a neutral. There is also a greater emerging of dots, geometric patterns and a graphic simplicity feel. Hold onto and continue to wear your animal prints and bird or wild life patterns from fall as these still show some life for at least a couple more seasons.

Themes of the Spring 2012 fashion trends are still showing a lot of desert bohemian. But there is also an emergence of the active and spectator feel in fashion apparel. Straw, canvas, linen, crochet and snake skin are still important fabrications. Along with a variety of natural or woven-looking elements. Silk, satin, eyelet and lace are still hot to fit the preference of the more feminine lady-like styles. There is also a revival of more 90's feeling sporty meshes, solid shears, and active wear fabrications.

Key fashion pieces for Spring 2012 will still utilize many of the items you have seen out from the last couple seasons, with just a few new twists added in. Platform soled shoes and wedges are still very hot. You will see over the coming season that heals and soles will be getting wider and chunkier, but your platform soled stilettos and espadrilles are still right on. Skinny-leg and ponte pants are still very popular, but you will also notice the slow re-emerging of flare and wide leg denim. Short shorts are getting a more dressy feel. Wearing short cuffed dress shorts may be a common look for Spring casual. Mini skirts and mini-dresses are being worn with more rustic biker and riding boots and with long socks coming out of the top of the boots. Maxi dresses are still very popular along with maxi-length cardigans and hi-low dress hems. Where the "little black dress" has always been a key wardrobe element, you will also want to invest in a key "little white dress". You will see a lot of "little white dresses" in eyelet or lace fabrications. Colored denim in bright bold reds, blues,etc will be bigger and bigger wardrobe pieces for Spring and into Fall. For the more posh side of Spring fashion trends, you will see the continuing of the "boyfriend blazer" in feminine fabrications such as silks, satins, laces and eyelet. More and more large embellishments in hair pieces and shoes in the form of flowers and bows. For sunglasses, the Cat-eye shape is still key, along with an emerging of a more thick-rimmed "nerd" glasses look for sun accessories. And as part of the more bohemian trend that continues, you will continue to see a lot of long feather earrings and heir pieces for Spring and Summer 2012.
